I am in one of these pictures. (#8) I was 14 in May of 1969. I was supposed to be baling hay with three friends 20 miles from home. We went in a 1964 or 65 Corvair. We got their early Friday morning and left Monday after Jimi Hendrix finished. We missed the traffic jams and were home (western Ohio, Darke country) by the 20th. We did have a hay baling job that started on the 21st through 23rd. It wasn’t until many, many years later that my mom told me, after dad passed away in 1995, that her and dad suspected that I had gone to Woodstock but since I didn’t seem any the worse for wear they didn’t say anything. It was the only time that I ever did anything like that and I never did anything like that again while I was still living at home. It is still the greatest experience that ever happened to me.

Woodstock Music & Art Fair (informally, Woodstock or The Woodstock Festival) was a music festival, billed as “An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music”. It was held at Max Yasgur’s 600-acre (2.4 km²; 240 ha, 0.94 mi²) dairy farm in the Catskills near the hamlet of White Lake in the town of Bethel, New York, from August 15 to August 18, 1969. Bethel, in Sullivan County, is 43 miles (69 km) southwest of the town of Woodstock, New York, in adjoining Ulster County.

During the sometimes rainy weekend, thirty-two acts performed outdoors in front of 500,000 concert-goers. It is widely regarded as one of the most pivotal moments in popular music history and was listed among Rolling Stone’s 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.

The event was captured in the 1970 documentary movie Woodstock, an accompanying soundtrack album, and Joni Mitchell’s song “Woodstock” which…

A tribute to the white trash teabaggers that attended the last Nascar race of the year at Homestead Florida, and the (lack of) respect they gave Michelle Obama, Jill Biden and Army Sargent Andrew Barry who was wounded during his tour in Iraq and Afghanistan. They were there promoting their charity, Joining Forces, a charity started by them to increase support  and opportunities for those serving in the military and their families.

But it wouldn’t be the first time that teabaggers have booed a soldier.

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that this nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long…

This  STORY of a SWAT team invading a womens house because she was researching pressure cookers made me think of ‘The Rifleman’s Creed’.

But with a few minor changes.

THIS IS MY PRESSURE COOKER

This is my pressure cooker. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My pressure cooker is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My pressure cooker, without me, it’s useless. Without my pressure cooker, I am useless. I must cook with my pressure cooker true. I must cook as my family gets hungry. I must cook nutritious, well balanced meals. I will…

My pressure cooker and I know that what counts in this kitchen is the food I cook, the tenderness of my roast, and the flavor I instill. I know that it is the quality of the food that counts…
